Inbox Conditions could not have been better for some November trout fishing at the 1st ever Turkey Trout Throwdown. The format included a 5-trout category
counting for the series points and the optional Redfish Calcutta sidepot. 28 participants blasted off from Cypremort Point State Park at 6:30 AM. The Cove, Bayou St. Pierre and Blue Point were chock full of power boaters and yakers elbowing for position to catch big trout. As usual in the month of November Vermilion Bay produced some nice specks. 2 oz was the difference between 1nd and 2nd place. The trout category was led by Greg Sonnier taking 1st with a 12.06# 5-fish stinger followed by Brandon Varisco who had 12.04# with a beauty 5.06# trout. Robert Mitchell ended up 3rd with 11.11#. We also had 3 anglers vying for the Redfish Calcutta category where Greg Englesman took home $120 in winnings.
